Summit of Mt. Adams (12,200 feet)

More details to come, but in short…
My first true mountain climbing experience, backpacking, and camping.
Left Redmond at 6am on Saturday, July 15th.  Hiked up Mt. Adams in Washington to an altitude of 9,100 feet, where we set up camp.  It was pretty windy, so I need to make a rock wall to cut the wind out (see pictures in my photo album).  Set up my Wal-mart special tent 🙂  Next morning, hiked the remaining 3,000 feet to get to the summit.  The view was spectacular!! You could see 6 separate peaks in Washington and Oregon, including Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, Mt. Baker, the Three Sisters, and others.  The way down was much more fun, with plenty of glisading opportunities (sliding on your ass down the mountain).  Good preparation for my climb to Mt. Rainier in a few weeks!.
